Transferable Skills Seminar
- Intellectual Property - 

This transferable skills seminar is targeted for researchers (MC, DC, PD).
Seminar will be conducted in English.

Quest for Truth that no one has ever found in the universe is what all the researchers are seeking for. Once you have identified it and proven that it is legitimate, you would want to publish it quickly to earn the reputation that you deserve. In the world of business, there are multiple ways to secure the rights and benefit that the pioneering individual or company ought to enjoy. IPR, Intellectual Property Rights, is the concept to enable the protection of your deserved entitlement. 
Transferable Skills Seminar – Intellectual Property Rights has been designed especially for graduate school students and postdoc researchers who could enjoy a seminar in English. The 90 minutes seminar is consisting with the following contents:
You will learn the basics of key elements of IPR such as: Trade Secrets, Patents, Design Rights, Trade Marks and Copyrights. 
Not only working for a company, but also when you work with companies for joint research projects, you would need to understand why and how companies are sensitive to IPR. The lecturer, Mr. Kenji Kamata is active patent lawyer and a manager of IP department of Panasonic.

Mr. Kenji Kamata
Panasonic IP Management

Kenji Kamata is a manager and a patent lawyer from Panasonic Corporation. 
He has extensive experience in Japan, US and International patent prosecution, managing patent portfolio and advising inventors on all aspects of intellectual property law.
Prior to his current assignment, he worked for several years (2003-2010) as a Director of Panasonic Patent Center based in Washington, D.C., responsible for the management and procurement of US patents.
To date, he has received master degree in law (LL.M) from New York University School of Law, and a bachelor of science in Electrical Engineering (B.S.EE) from WASEDA University.
He is admitted to practice before the Japanese Patent Office as a member of Japanese Patent Attorneys Association (JPAA). He is also admitted to practice law in the state of New York, and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
